La Rochelle is home to the Fountaine Pajot shipyard and one of the world’s most important centres for catamaran production. Collecting a new yacht directly from the factory is an exciting milestone for any owner and the beginning of the vessel’s cruising life. Factory collection differs from a conventional yacht delivery. Rather than preparing an established cruising boat, the focus is on becoming familiar with newly commissioned systems, confirming equipment operation and ensuring the vessel is properly configured before beginning its first offshore passage.
This Fountaine Pajot was collected from La Rochelle following completion and handover. Factory collection deliveries involve familiarisation with the yacht, system checks, sea trials and preparation before commencing the next stage of the voyage. New Fountaine Pajot catamarans are equipped with increasingly sophisticated electrical, navigation and onboard management systems. Spending time testing these systems under way allows any commissioning issues to be identified before the yacht reaches more remote cruising areas.
